During an unidentified interview, Emily was asked about her sister Zooey and whether or not she’d be up for making an appearance on Zooey’s show, New Girl. Take a look below:
You and your sister, Zooey, the star of New Girl, are in successful TV shows but your characters are very different. How different are you in real life? It’s so hard for me to analyse from the inside. I would say we’re different – but also the same. There are similarities from having grown up in the same household. We have lots of things in common but view the world in different ways. The way we think is completely different and we have different ways of going about things.
Would you ever work with her on screen?Zooey played my cousin on an episode of Bones a couple of seasons ago and we’ve talked about me coming in to do New Girl. We shoot on the same lot, so if we weren’t so busy it might be really easy to swing on by and play a part. It’s hard to get a few hours off, let alone a couple of days to do her show. I hope it happens because I love her show. I watch every episode as soon as I can when I’m not working.

Emily Deschanel chatted with ET about losing the baby weight and rumors of her show ending. The actress, who gave birth to her first child named Henry Hornsby in September 2011, tells Entertainment Tonight:
“My character was pregnant she’s the normal woman. She can take the time that it takes to lose the weight and I’m doing that myself. Yeah I haven’t lost all my weight yet hopefully I will eventually.”
The actress maintained a vegan diet throughout her pregnancy and has done so for 19 years. On being a new mom Deschanel says, “I love seeing his personality blossom.”
Emily says the rumors about her show not coming back are false. She says filming begins in July. “Our show was picked up months ago so it is coming back for the 8th season in September,” she revealed.

Emily Deschanel doesn’t just play an animal lover on Bones — in real life she’s devoted herself to a vegan lifestyle (and defends herself against criticism), speaks out against animal cruelty, and raises awareness about the realities of factory farming. On June 2nd, Mercy for Animals, an organization dedicated to preventing farmed animal cruelty through education and awareness, will honor Emily for her continued hard work as a high-profile animal advocate.
The Justice for All: A Night for Creatures Big & Small event will honor Emily for “her farmed animal advocacy leadership and accomplishments.” No doubt, making her personal animal rights mission an integral part of her character in Dr. Temperance Brennan is a large part of how she’s reached so many people with her message.
Last year, Emily was the official spokesperson for the Walk for Farm Animals, an annual event to raise funds and awareness about farm animal abuse. Given her continued advocacy efforts, it’s so deserved that Emily will be recognized for her work on animal rights. (Source)
With a three year difference between them, it’s understandable to think of sisters and actresses Emily Deschanel and Zooey Deschanel as very close. But on Jimmy Kimmel Live (Weeknights, 12 a.m. ET on ABC), Zooey spoke of a long-running trick that her big sister Emily played on her.
“She basically just used the plot of ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ to terrify me,” Zooey said. She went on to explain that Emily told her that she’d been replaced by an alien from Neptune. “the Neptunians had killed my real sister and replaced her with a facsimile who looked just like her, talked just like her, but when my parents weren’t in the room, made crazy faces at me.”
Emily apparently also tormented her by talking in a monotone voice like V.I.C.I. from Small Wonder. Zooey didn’t indicate how long Emily carried on the ruse, but it was clearly over an extended period of time, and it positively terrified the young Zooey.
“She would make me cry and then she would laugh,” Zooey said. Of course, Zooey preceded this story by saying that Emily “came on here and humiliated me in front of millions of people.”
Could this have been a bit of sisterly revenge, making her big sister look bad? If so, it should be interesting to hear what Emily has to say the next time she’s on Kimmel’s show.
Zooey Deschanel can be seen Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on New Girl, while Emily Deschanel stars in Bones, Mondays at 8 p.m. ET, both on Fox. (Source)
During the Paleyfest 2012 panel Thursday night, Emily Deschanel opened up to Us Weekly about what five-month-old Henry has been up to.
“He’s wonderful!” The Bones star, 35, gushed when asked about her son with actor Henry Hornsby. “He has two teeth…very advanced for his age. I don’t know if that’s advanced…but it’s unusual!”
Later on during the conference, Deschanel dished about the Season 7 moment Bones fans have been waiting for: the birth of Brennan and Booth’s baby. Unfortunately, Deschanel admitted the scene didn’t go quite as smoothly as she, or her costar David Boreanaz, hoped it would.
“That baby peed on us,” Deschanel laughed. “Henry [had] also peed on me that day…when it happened I said, ‘I’ve been peed on today by two different babies!’”
But despite the diaper-changing hazards she and her character face, the actress couldn’t contain her enthusiasm about her parenting experience in general. “I don’t get a lot of sleep, but I love it,” Deschanel told reporters. “Henry’s awesome!”

According to Tamara Taylor, her costar Emily is doing a great job balancing her hunt for fictitious killers on Bones and her newborn on the “extremely” baby-friendly set:
“Oh, my God. Henry is so beautiful,” gushed co-star Tamara Taylor, “He is such a smiley little lover. It’s so great getting our makeup done and hearing the baby like cooing in the trailer, it’s so nice to have that energy around.
“He’s got his little baby trailer. It’s nice that she gets to bring him with her so she doesn’t have to be away from him long,” says Tamara. ”She’s doing incredibly well. Really, I can’t imagine splitting my focus the way she is, and she’s doing a great job of it. She’s doing it all gracefully.”
Ryan Gosling, Emily Deschanel, Zooey Deschanel, Steve-O, Alicia Silverstone, Kristin Bauer and Bryan Adams are among a group of ten big name celebrities who have signed an open letter asking McDonald’s to switch to buying free range eggs.
In November one of McDonald’s suppliers, Sparboe Farms, was caught on film by Mercy for Animals torturing their hens. According to MFA’s website, footage of Sparboe Farms “revealed hens crammed into filthy battery cages and dead hens left to rot alongside birds still laying eggs for human consumption. The investigator also documented workers burning off the beaks of chicks without painkillers, sadistically and maliciously torturing animals, and throwing live birds into plastic bags and leaving them to suffocate.”
While McDonald’s dropped that supplier and publicly came out against them, MFA and this group of celebs don’t think it’s enough.
Their open letter says, “While MCDonald’s has already established a 100 per cent cage-free purchasing policy in Europe, your US restaurants continue to support egg factory farms that confine hens for most of their lives in cages so small they can’t even spread their wings, nearly anything that comes naturally to them. Common sense tells us that animals with legs and wings should be given the basic freedom to move.
“Sadly, there is not a single federal law to protect hens from cruelty from the time they hatch to the time they are killed. While MCDonald’s brags about the ‘billions and billions served’, millions of hens exploited for your restaurants are being grossly underserved. In fact, these animals are being abused in ways that would land your egg suppliers in jail, if dogs or cats were the victims.”
