"I'm a vegan, but you can be really unhealthy as a vegan, too. Vegan just means that you don't use animal products, so you don't wear leather, you don't wear wool, and you don't eat animal products. But you can eat french fries and stuff like that all day long."

Last Thursday’s episode of Bones introduced The Finder Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), a former military policeman who did two tours in Iraq and returned with brain damage that made him suspicious of everything and everyone — but also able to find anything and anyone because of it (or so he believes). The character could front a new Fox show this fall, alongside his legal adviser/bodyguard Leo (Michael Clarke Duncan) and bartender/pilot/systems analyst Ike (Saffron Burrows). Are you rooting for him?

The concept borrows heavily from other shows, but it definitely has its own spin on things: As with Burn Notice, you’ve got a loyal trio in Florida with a badass chick and they’re not affiliated with the cops. But Ike wears more clothes than Fiona, presumably hasn’t slept with Walter, and needs to tone down her accent; Leo is there to tell Walter what charges he could face before doing whatever he’s about to do and to rescue him when someone comes after him (unless it’s Walter’s fault); and the only weapon we saw any of them wield in this hour was Leo’s book of poetry.

Like Psych‘s Shawn Spencer, Walter is incredibly observant and his gift his often doubted, but Walter isn’t actually hiding anything from anyone, nor does he make pop culture references or say something to a large tattooed biker like, “Hey, are you in charge of meth distribution in all of southern Florida or just this county?” just to be a smartass. He has no filter, so Walter asks whatever question he wants answered. Similar to Adrian on Monk, Walter could receive help for the issue that keeps him from enjoying life the way others do, but he runs the risk of losing the trait that may be the reason he’s so good at his job. In Walter’s case, it’s the ability to see connections that make him ask those questions that sound crazy/rude, but are actually little epiphanies. And just like Patrick Jane on The Mentalist, Walter has traditional leading man looks, but even though I don’t watch that show, something tells me Simon Baker has never stripped down to his briefs in a victim’s home to profile him and ended up on the toilet. Watch the scene below.

I also like the wide range of cases “The Finder” could take. It doesn’t have to be a part of a murder investigation, like the stolen treasure map with ink that was only visible when it came in contact with blood, semen, or breast milk was. (How did Booth find that factoid boring?) It could be something personal: To prove himself to Brennan, Walter found the medal she won for winning her 7th grade science fair. It was nice to see Brennan get that emotional again over her mother, who was pictured with 11-year-old Tempe in the accompanying newspaper clipping, wasn’t it?

Your turn. What are your thoughts on “The Finder” as a potential series? Are you glad the show would be set in Florida so Stults may have to do a lot of his profiling in boxers? And who’s hoping Walter has to go scuba-diving a lot so we see Hart Hanson’s face on his tank again? (Source)

The Jersey Shore bandwagon is getting crowded. When Bones creator Hart Hanson jumps on it, you know the MTV reality show has left its mark on popular culture in a big way. Hanson confirmed a recent report that he has approached Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino to guest star in an upcoming episode.

“We’re trying to get The Situation to play a murder victim,” Hanson revealed to EW. “A guido is killed and Booth and Brennan enter that world to find out what happens. We’re not sure if it’ll actually happen or not. Talks are ongoing.”

Sources say The Situation would play fitness guru Ritchie “The V” Genero in the episode. The search is on for an actress to costar as Ritchie’s Victoria Gotti-esque mom.

“Bones actually understands them because she considers [guidos] to be a tribe,” explains star David Boreanaz. Adds Emily Deschanel: “Brennan anthropologically studies them and knows the lingo and the behavior. [She's] down with the whole guido stuff.” Laughs the actress: “I guarantee that there will be a fist pump.”

Deschanel, who admits jealousy over Booth’s new girlfriend this upcoming season, is at least in good spirits regarding this episode, currently slated for October. She predicts that the episode will be packed with Jersey Shore quotes and references. (Source)

Ask Ausiello posted some upcoming “Bones” spoilers that I thought I’d share. I cannot wait to see how the remainder of the season pans out!

Question: Do you have any new Bones finale scoop? —Katie
Ausiello:
Exec producer Stephen Nathan describes the episode as “the next logical emotional step after what happened in the 100th.” Adds series creator Hart Hanson, “And it’s really, really good.”

Question: Next time you see Emily Deschanel, tell her she was awesome in the final scene of last week’s Bones. —Chris
Ausiello:
Perfect timing. We’re actually going Rollerblading later this week, so I’ll be sure to give her the message. Speaking of The Scene, Deschanel confesses it was a challenge to pull off. “But it was an important scene, so we had to nail it,” she adds. “It is pretty rare that we see [Brennan] cry. The season finale of the first season was a pretty upsetting moment. I don’t have to get that emotional very often. She holds everything in, but sometimes the emotions overwhelm her and the dam breaks. I think if some people had their way I’d be crying in every episode, but that’s not who the character is at all. It is not that she doesn’t have feelings. She just holds them in most of the time.”

Question: I’m a huge Bones fan and I was wondering if there was any scoop you could give me about Angela’s relationship with Hodgins? —Lily
Ausiello:
Would you settle for scoop about her relationship with her father instead? ‘Cause that’s all I’ve got. “My dad, played by Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, comes back on the show in a really killer way,” reveals Angela’s portrayer, Michaela Conlin. “I should clarify that. It’s not in a Bones killer way, but killer as in cool-ass. He has a really great episode.”
