This past weekend, the 24th annual Genesis Awards gave honors to ‘Up’, ‘The Cove’, and ‘Hotel for Dogs’. The celebration, held in Los Angeles at the celebratory Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, come courtesy the Humane Society, and attracted animals lovers such as Teri Hatcher, Melanie Griffith, Kristen Bell, Tippy Hedren, Pierce Brosnan, Antonio Banderas and Emily Deschanel.
Many of these celebrities appeared in films about pets, including ‘Hotel for Dogs’, ‘Up’, and ‘The Cove’.
The latter was awarded outstanding documnetary, while ‘Up’ and Hotel for Dogs’ took the feature film award together.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Genesis Awards honor media depictions of animal protection issues, an honor all animal lovers approve and applaud.
