The next season of Bones will feature an episode based on infamous serial killer Jack the Ripper, it has been revealed. Executive producer Stephen Nathan revealed that an upcoming plot focuses on Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) investigating a murder in a community modelled after the late 1800s.
“They’re in a completely different world, with handlebar moustaches and suspenders,” he told TV Guide. “Booth and Brennan will have to discover if someone is mimicking Jack the Ripper.”
Deschanel predicted that her character will “have a field day” with the unusual case, while Boreanaz said: “I’ve always been fascinated by Jack the Ripper… the science back then was raw and gruesome.”
The actor recently warned Digital Spy to prepare for a “pretty hectic, crazy season” of Bones. The show will return to Fox on September 17.
Michael Ausiello of TV Line’ Ask Ausiello has posted three new Bones spoilers. If you wish to remain spoiler free, do not read below. For everyone else, take a look at what season 8 has to offer:
Question: Any clue who will have replaced Brennan in the lab when Bones returns?
Ausiello: Hint — the person is question is, like Brennan, a forensic anthropologist (which should narrow things down considerably). Bonus clue: His initials are C.E.
Question: I think by now everyone knows who Cam’s new/old love interest on Bones is. I am sure you have something not known and more exciting for us. Bonus points if it includes Booth and Brennan.
Ausiello: Actually, not everyone knows the identity of Cam’s new/old BF. “I don’t know who it is — they haven’t told me,” insists Cam’s portrayer, Tamara Taylor. “It could be anyone from the country boy, who I loved, to any of the squinterns, to any of the FBI guys we’ve seen before. I’ve racked my brain. I’m not sure who one it is.” One person Taylor is praying it isn’t? Rookie intern and the object of her daughter’s affection, Finn Abernathy. “That’s so inappropriate,” she protests. “That is mildly creepy. He’s so young.”
Question: Got anything juicy on Bones?
Ausiello: EP Stephen Nathan tells me the show is planning an episode that should warm Emily Deschanel’s animal rights-lovin’ heart. “It’s a story about smuggling endangered species into the states as pets,” he reveals. “In fact, what is horrifying is that there are more tigers as pets in Texas than there are in the wild. So we’re doing a story about animal smuggling that takes place in one of those pet expos.”
Michael Ausiello of Ask Ausiello posted some great Bones spoilers. What can we expect from the premiere? Also, what did Comic Con 2012 revealed about the upcoming season? If you wish to remain spoiler free, do not read below.
Question: Can I get a new spoiler on the Bones season premiere?
Ausiello: We’ll find out what Pelant did to Brennan’s alarm clock. “That will be a part of the first episode,” confirms EP Stephen Nathan. “The clock, the surveillance, footage — everything will come back. Whether it’s resolved or not, I can’t tell you. I would imagine it’s not all going to be resolved.”
Question: Thank you for all your amazing interviews from Comic-Con — especially the David Boreanaz Q&A! Did you happen to get any more Bones scoop from Stephen Nathan or Emily Deschanel?
Ausiello: Deschanel no, Nathan yes. “There will be a new love interest for Cam, and it will be very, very surprising,” says the boss man. “Somebody that you would not expect to appear in her life.” Bonus scoop: It’s someone we’ve already met! Hit the comments with your best guesses!

Great news Bones fans!
FOX has announced the season 8 premiere will take place, Monday, September 17th! The show will maintain its previous time slot, airing on Mondays at 8:00 pm ET, and will consist of 24 episodes. Executive producer Stephen Nathan commented that season eight will include storylines that were originally intended for the previous season, but due to the shortened episode count, they were not able to write them in.
The extra four episodes that were ordered by Fox for the previous season will be aired during season eight.

Bones may have had a small panel of only three people, but they proved quantity doesn’t equal quantity. Read a rundown of the fun that went down during the Bones panel in Ballroom 20.
The Panel: Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz and executive producer Stephen Nathan
The Big Revelations: Many! Here’s a rundown:
An undercover episode is being planned that will find Booth ballroom dancing! “Will I be wearing a tight, shiny, one-piece suit?” Boreanaz asked, mildly concerned.
Cam’s (not so new) Love:
Cam’s getting a boyfriend — and it’s someone we know! “[It will be someone] who will be very interesting to see her with,” says Nathan.
Hacker Christopher Pelant Will Stick Around for Much of the Season:
“Pelant will be a cloud that hangs over them,” says Nathan.
Booth’s family will be explored “a little more,” says Nathan. “I think it’s time to see his mother.”
Will we ever see THAT night?
It doesn’t sound like there are plans to flash back to the night Bones and Booth first slept together, but Nathan said separation might bring them close together once again. “They’ve been apart for three months, who knows?” Meanwhile, Boreanaz joked that he’s disappointed that his recommendation for the pair’s first encounter was not taken. “I wanted to put her up on the washing machine and just go at it. I had change for a dollar!” he joked.
Bones on the Run:
The new season will pick up three months after the season finale, but it’s likely that Booth hasn’t spent all that time twiddling his thumbs. “At this point everyone’s patience is very, very thing,” said Nathan, who wouldn’t share the details of Bones’ time on the run. All the shared? “It’s a big reveal.”
A HOT sizzle reel, that you might be able to check out very soon here on EW.com. UPDATE: See it below!
Least Incisive Audience Question:
The Joss Whedon fan who “slept on the curb” to ask about getting Boreanaz to collaborate with Whedon again. “The experiences I had on the show were great….we’ll see. You guys keep pushing and maybe that’ll happen one day.”
The Winner of the Panel:
David Boreanaz because he knows how to get a rise out of the crowd. Between proposing an Angel movie, to talk of washing machine sex, to bashing The Vampire Diaries. (“Everyone carries around a diary? I’m confused. ‘Oh, I made love to a vampire night last night.’)
